Troparion for St. Nicholas – Tone 4

Thy work of justice did show thee to thy congregation a canon of faith, the likeness of humility, a teacher of abstinence, O Father Bishop Nicholas. Wherefore, by humility thou didst achieve exaltation, and meekness, richness.  Intercede, therefore, with Christ to save our souls.

+ The Epistle +

Verse:  The Lord will give strength to His people.

Ascribe to the Lord, O sons of God; ascribe to the Lord honor and glory.

The Reading is from the First Epistle of St. Paul the Apostle to St. Timothy (4:9-15)

Timothy, my son, the saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance. For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, Who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe. Command and teach these things. Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. Until I come, attend to the public reading of scripture, to preaching, to teaching. Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophetic utterance when the council of elders laid their hands upon you. Practice these duties; devote yourself to them, so that all may see your progress.

Parking: Where Can You Park Around The Church?

Over the years, questions have been asked as to where can parishioners and visitors to Saint Nicholas Church park their vehicles on Sunday’s and special events held at Saint Nicholas?

Here is the definitive answer as of June 27th:

Ø      McDonald’s Parking Lot. According to the agreement between the church and the management of McDonald’s, you may park your vehicle in the 20 spaces facing St. Dominique Street, between the entrance of the McDonald’s Parking Lot on St. Dominique Street and the apartment building only. Parking in any other section of the McDonald’s Parking Lot will result in your car being towed at your expense. Please do not park in the following sections of the parking lot: the middle section; along the apartments; facing McDonald’s or next to Petro Canada.

Ø      In the event the allotted parking spaces are full, you may find parking in the following locations around the church:

Ø       Renaissance Parking LotSundays Only from 10.00AM – 1:00pm.   Instructions – enter from 7545 rue Clarke – Park in front of number SIGNS 1 to 14 only.  Leave by St. Laurent Blvd. EXIT ONLY.

St. Laurent Boulevard. Plenty of free parking exists between Jean Talon Street and De Castelnau Street.

Jean Talon Street. Within a two block radius of the church there is normally metered parking available ($1.00 per hour).

Residential Streets around the Church (De Castelnau, St. Dominique, Casgrain, etc).

When looking for parking please have consideration for our elderly and handicapped parishioners when parking at the McDonald’s Parking Lot.

Please remember that parking at the McDonald’s Parking Lot is available only through the generosity and good will of the McDonald’s management. Please do not abuse their generosity and good will.

+ The Holy Gospel +

The Reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Luke (19:1-10)

At that time, Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. And there was a man named Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector, and rich. And he sought to see Who Jesus was, but could not, on account of the crowd, because he was small of stature. So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Jesus, for He was to pass that way. And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down; for I must stay at your house today.” So he made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully. And when they saw it they all murmured, “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.”And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold.” And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham; for the Son of man came to seek and to save the lost.” +
